fooala is building what it calls “Food 2.0″ – making it easier for restaurants to access their customers and diners to find the food they want to eat. They want to “sell food the right way on the internet.”
The founding team out of CMU is big and successful (if not enthusiastic enough – David, light it up, man! You get the audience going the more you interact and loosen up), and they are going after the HUGE online food pickup/delivery market at ~$36B. They are building an open platform, which is crucial – and they are sharing revenue in a very open way with all their lead and referral sources as well. I think this approach is very smart.
Their distribution plans are little vague, however. As with any platform, if they are going to be successful they need to get big quickly.
They are looking for seed funding, and look like they have built a company that has the greatest chance to be a big success coming out of AlphaLab.
