Live from Early Stage East

I am at Early Stage East, an early stage venture capital conference in Wilmington, DE. Today I will hear many presentations from up and coming companies in the Mid-Atlantic region. While listening in, I’m going to briefly summarize a few of the more interesting businesses at the event. Hopefully the wireless connection will cooperate better than most venture events I’ve attended in the past.

First up, Scorelogix-

Scorelogix is a credit scoring company. Its Job Security Score product is sold to credit card issuers, mortgage lenders, and direct marketers for pre-screening and credit risk scoring. While FICO scores look at previous credit history, Scorelogix product predicts consumers’ ability to pay as a function of economy, income risk, and many other factors. While this is a fairly interesting concept, they are trying to sell to their target market on a “per score” basis which I predict will be very tough. Credit companies surely have similar technologies devloped in-house that accomplish a similar result. I’d have to be convinced that what Scorelogix is truly gamechanging and not just incrementally better than existing in-house credit assessment algorithms.
