Happy New Year! And some new posting ideas…

Happy New Year to all 46 of you have added us to your feed reader… we really appreciate you following this blog!

This year I am going to resolve to post on some instructional topics concerning the structure of private equity – how we at Meakem Becker look at potential investments, the internal workings of our decisions to invest (or not), and some of the mechanics of how the investment process works.  Along the way, let’s have some FUN – I plan to sprinkle my posts with a NEW FEATURE called “Rule #….”

This new feature comes from a little ritual we have inside our firm that has been around since the earliest days in 2005 when we got our start.  We have assembled a list of “Rules” – lightly named – developed as we encounter entrepreneurs and business plans in the course of our daily business.  Some of the rules can be serious – but most of the rules are just plain FUN, and FUNNY – and almost all the rules come with a moral, or teaching moment, for entrepreneurs who are trying to present their businesses and themselves in the best possible light for investors.  I hope you enjoy them, and gain some instruction amidst the chuckles.

    Consider this as the starting point! This is a convenient way for me to get all 365 into electronic format, then I can put together the physical product… available at all fine retailers near you.

    Do you know of any companies that let you easily print off low-volume runs of 365-day calendars straight off the web ala cafepress and the like? Seems like it may be a nice little niche market that has yet to be dominated.
